Accessibility statement

Gersen Medina wants everyone to be able to use gersenmedina.com. The site is built and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, with no accessibility overlay or widget. This page says what has been tested, what is known to fall short, and how to report a problem.

Standard and scope

The target for every page on this site is WCAG 2.2 level AA. The statement covers the pages under gersenmedina.com: the home page, About, the Shopify accessibility remediation service page, Selected work and this page. It does not cover external sites linked from here (LinkedIn, Medium, Google Fonts, the sources cited in articles).

What is in place

  • Semantic HTML with one h1 per page, a logical heading order, and header, navigation, main and footer landmarks
  • A "Skip to content" link as the first focusable element on every page
  • All functionality available from the keyboard, with a visible focus indicator on every link and button
  • Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background, including on the green sections
  • Meaningful alternative text on informative images, and empty alternative text on decorative ones
  • No content that moves or updates automatically, and animations disabled when the operating system asks for reduced motion
  • Text that can be resized to 200 percent and reflows on small screens without horizontal scrolling
  • No accessibility overlay or widget, because they do not fix the underlying code

How it was tested

On September 5, 2026 every page was checked with axe-core 4.13 (through the axe CLI) against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rule sets, with zero violations reported, and reviewed by hand for keyboard operability, focus visibility, heading structure and landmarks. Automated tools find only part of the possible issues, so manual checks are repeated whenever a page changes.

Known limitations

  • The CV offered for download is a PDF that has not been checked for PDF accessibility (tagging and reading order). Ask by email for the same information in another format.
  • Screenshots in the Selected work gallery carry a short description only; they do not describe every element of the interfaces shown.
  • A full screen reader pass with VoiceOver and NVDA on every page is scheduled and this statement will be updated with the result.

This statement follows the structure recommended by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative and is reviewed at least once a year, and whenever the site changes.
